GUMS AND TEETH CHANGES DURING PREGNANCY
if you are pregnant, your gums are more likely to become inflamed or infected. Most pregnant women experience bleeding gums, especially when brushing teeth or flossing. GINGIVITIS is the inflammation of the gums. PERIODONTITIS is an infection of the gums. During pregnancy also notice that your mouth produces more saliva. The teeth and gums change during pregnancy, perhaps because hormonal changes and increased blood flow through the body that can cause swelling, sensitivity and discomfort in the gums.

¿WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
To prevent dental problems during pregnancy, keep good hygiene brushing at least 5 times a day, for 5 minutes. Floss every day and after every meal if necessary. Use a soft bristle brush and brush gently. If you have very sensitive, try using special toothpaste for sensitive gums. If your gums hurt after brushing, apply ice to relieve pain.

AVOID EATING TOO MANY SWEETS 
Candy, cookies, cakes or biscuits, sodas and other sugary foods can contribute to gum disease and decay. Eat fresh fruit instead of candy to satisfy the desire for something sweet.

VISIT YOUR DENTIST REGULARLY
Visit to the dentist before, during and after pregnancy. Early in your pregnancy, visit your dentist for a comprehensive review of your teeth, so the dentist will tell you the state of your teeth and you should take appropriate care for the nine months, your teeth stay healthy. If you have any dental condition, no matter how small, during your pregnancy can complicate or cause greater problems if not treated early. 

The decayed teeth can cause major infections baby, so do not let the treatments after pregnancy. Also inform the dentist of your pregnancy and how many months pregnant you are.

GO IMMEDIATELY TO THE DENTIST, IF YOU PRESENT THE FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS:
  1. The gums bleed or show much pain.
  2. If bad breath persists.
  3. If you have a tooth loss.
  4. If you have a lump or growth in the mouth.
  5. If you feel pain in a tooth.
